On the 1st Sunday of the WEEK OF WATER 2024, the motto was MINT Campus Alte Schmelz: Experience hydrogen: A special kind of family day or even Open Lab Day.
The MINT Campus is a non-profit organization with the aim of getting young people interested in MINT. On Sunday, June 16, the campus opened its doors together with the Saarland Hydrogen Agency from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the MINT-Campus Alte Schmelz in St. Ingbert opens its doors and gates and presents the modern laboratories of the Student Research & Technology Center.
The program allowed interested parties to experience hydrogen up close. The following questions were discussed and demonstrated at 5 stations in the laboratory:
-
How does electrolysis work?
-
What is oxyhydrogen gas?
-
What is “green iron” and how is it produced?
And there was also plenty on offer outside the laboratory:
-
History meets Future: A racing furnace and a blacksmith illustrate the metal processing of the past, while the trainees of Stahl-Holding-Saar (SHS) present the metal processing of today and tomorrow. An exciting juxtaposition!
-
The contributions to the school competition “How do you imagine a green future” were also presented.
-
Of course, music is a must: BigFM will accompany the guests through the day with a pop-up event.
We enjoyed the day just as much as you did. That’s why we look forward to offering another event in a similar form next year!
